As far as I know, the "new" Miramax has not signed a deal for releasing their titles. The best option would be for the “new” Miramax to sign their home video deal w/ Sony. That way all the Scream titles would be under 1 roof. This would allow for complete box sets featuring Part 4 and any future sequels. It would also prevent there from being any bad blood. For instance, let’s say Wes or Kevin wants to be seriously involved with special editions of all 3 films. If those rights are held by a studio other than Sony, it might create some bad blood between Wes/Kevin and the Weinsteins if they go and do that.

However, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Weinsteins want nothing to do w/ the “new” Miramax and they could influence Sony to not get involved w/ them.

Basically, keep your eye out for news that “new” Miramax has signed a home video deal with someone. Until then there can be no releases.

But, whether they can do a complete 1-4 set or not, they’d have to put someone pretty stupid in charge to not have the first 3 films on Blu when Scream 4 hits Blu-- if not when it hits theaters.

@waiting...

Is there any news that company (or whoever is now behind a Scream Trilogy Blu-Ray Box Set) is working on (or will soon begin work on) a Scream Trilogy Blu Ray Box Set...or if they ever will??

PLUS do you think its wise to purchase the Canadian import which was released yesterday (8/10/2010) or should we hold our for the U.S release?? Do you think its more possible we will get the U.S release now that Miramax is finally sold?

Update to my previous post: Disney sold Miramax and their catalog of over 700 films for $660 million dollars to Filmyard Holdings LLC – and its partners Ron Tutor and Tom Barrack. So, they now own the rights to Scream, Scream 2 and Scream 3. They do not own the sequel rights -- obviously. So, that's who we go to for Blu-Ray releases, Anniversary editions, 16x9 transfers, complete boxsets, DIRECTOR'S CUTS, etc.
